Exercise: Changing the title of a blog post
Publishing a blog post is not a one-time job.
You can’t dust your hands off.
You’ll need to keep polishing it with up-to-date content and SEO keywords (more on this later).
And as part of this polishing job, sometimes you need to change the blog post’s title.
How do you do it?
Easy.
There are two methods:
- Changing the title using the Post Editor screen
- Changing the title using the “Quick Edit” link
In this exercise, we will focus on the first method.
Changing the title using the Post Editor screen
We can achieve this in three easy steps:
- Access the editing screen of the blog post
- Change the title by clicking on it
- Click the “Update” button to save the changes.
Step 1: Access the editing screen of the blog post
You already know how to access the post editor screen.
If not, learn it from reading the last two exercises.
Step 2: Change the title by clicking on it
Once you are inside the Post Editor screen, you can change the title by removing the existing text and entering a new one.
Step 3: Click the “Update” button to save the changes
WordPress doesn’t automatically save the title when you change it.
You have to hit the “Update” button to save the changes.
That’s all.
In the next exercise, we will perform a follow-up activity of changing the URL of this blog post.
